This is a wonderful average length course that meanders through the rolling hills of North Carolina in the Smithfield area. Right off Holt Lake this is both an astetically pleasing and challenging golf course where most everything breaks towards the lake. Lots of challenging holes that dogleg left and right with lots of slope right or left. Ponds and wetlands dot this track and the greens are usually fast enough to get your attention. Avid golfers will love the challenge and the average golfer will want at least a six-pack of golf balls while on the course. The course is now open to the public and is a great deal.

I have been a member of CCJC for 28 years. It is an interesting and challenging layout - I am never bored playing this course even after playing it a couple of thousand times. Not long (6100 yards from the whites, 6500 from the blues), but fairly narrow fairways lined with trees. Nice elevation variations. Greens are large and tough and take some local knowledge to read the grain, especially the opening holes near the lake.

We used an "online discount" deal. Mostly members playing and they are not good to their golf course. They drive past the signs that say no carts past this point. We let 3 go through on a par three and both carts immediately drove around the 'no carts' sign and on up the fairway and parked close to the green. Lots of places where traps were not raked although a rake was impossible to miss. They course will let three members out with 3 carts. One day our foursome played the front nine in 1 hour and 35 minutes. A senior threesome behind us complained in the clubhouse and we were obliged to let them through. They each had a cart and drove right up beside the tee box. Following that group was another threesome, each with their own cart. I like the course, but only go there when we get a really good price on Groupon or GroupGolfer.
